My son recently had some new Lego sets which contained a few yellow parts that were a paler shade than normal. The difference was only noticeable in certain lights, but after a few weeks it started to annoy me (I'm a bit of a Lego snob, and colour consistency is one of the reasons why I won't allow the cheaper versions of Lego into the house).
I emailed Lego's CS department and was asked to send the offending parts back to them and they would replace them. So, seeing the opportunity, we went through our whole box of Lego and found 18 yellow parts that were the wrong shade. I sent them to the Freepost address supplied, and emailed CS with the list of parts, as requested.
A very nice lady called Hannah emailed me a few days later to say that the order for my replacements had been passed to the factory, and that she would try to find out what the reason was for the colour problems. Hannah emailed me again a couple of days later with a very detailed explanation of her findings and to say that Lego have now tightened up their colour tolerances.
We received the replacement parts today and the colour was spot on. So, good work by Lego and a special thank you to Hannah for keeping me informed.
