cat pooped on floor-stressed?

hi
at the weekend, me and DH and Rocky moved to mum and dad's to help save for a deposit, on the agreement that Rocky (who is an indoor cat anyway) be kept to the spacious conservatory whilst the house is empty, which is not long as mum finishes work early afternoon.
he seemed to be settling in fine, bit hidey at first but eating and drinking fine, pooping and weeing in his litter box, although he kept missing slightly with the wee, we think because he wasn't used to a hard floor, put a bath mat underneath the litter tray hoping that would help and he hasn't weed on it so far. he's had a couple of wanders around the rest of the house and seemed fine with its other occupants
luckily i was the first one downstairs this morning as he'd done a massive poop on the floor on the opposite side of the room to his tray . i think this was a deliberate placement as it was on the floor in front of the couch where we'd been sitting each night (using the conservatory as a living room) and in the past if he wasn't happy with his litter tray he'd poop next to it as a dirty protest, so i don't think it's a litter issue
I think i've read somewhere before that when a cat is very nervous they'll mark their territory with poop as it smells more and his bum smelled more than normal so maybe he's building up a good scent?
i cleaned the floor but had no time to get rid of the smell- do you still need to do that on hard floors or is it just carpets? plus if it is a marking thing am i better leaving it so he's comforted by the smell?
he seemed really skittish this morning and we had really bad weather here which might have been too loud for him plus my baby niece stayed over night and he hasn't heard a baby crying before.
oh and lots of hard headbutting against the couch and us when we sat with him having breakfast.
I'm thinking feliway might help? he's had the spray before when he was ill and seemed to react well to that.
also there's a mousse the vet gave (they thought his bladder issues were due to stress) that you put on the back of their paw to lick off. does anyone know the name of this? i'm thinking of asking the vet for it if feliway doesn't help.
what a long post! proper worried about him, such a crazy cat lady these days! plus i'm on tenterhooks for a text saying he's pooped on the floor again lol x
