Jsa

Me partner has been claiming contribution JSA and we get housing benefit and council tax benefit. He went today to sign on and realised he had missed a catch up meeting on the 29th. He had the letter just completely forgot. Anyways they have today told him that his claim is closed.

They have told him to go online and do something and it could be sorted in 3 days. I dont know what this means.

Are we going to lose housing benefit and council tax benefit? Im assuming as he hasnt signed on today we wont get his jsa on monday. Im really panicking we have no food in and 5 kids to feed. :(

So he went online and it looks like he has to make a whole new claim. Does that mean we have to start again with housing and council tax benefit? If we contact the council and explain what happened will they let the claim continue.

I know its his fault he forgot, hes not good with remembering dates, I usually do that but ive been ill and stressed with work and now with this ontop. oh god what are we going to do. :(

When are your child tax credits, child benefit and wages due?

If you contact the council, they'll be able to keep your claim open.

I get £190 tax credits on monday but £185 is due to go out on bills. I will cancel some direct debits and speak to the companies and try and pay double next month.

I dont get child benefit till 21st Jan. I get paid from my job on the 28th, so will try and borow some money off parents till then.

Spoke to housing benefit and we have to write a letter detailing what happened so hopefully they wont stop the claim. :(
  • He needs to do a rapid reclaim online. His claim may be sanctioned for up to four weeks (assuming he has not been sanctioned before) due to his failure to attend.

He needs to make a rapid reclaim to JSA. he will not be sanctioned though because he failed to contact JCP within 5 days of missing the interview his claim will have closed from the day he last attended. As he therefore was not entitled to JSA on the day he actually attended they cannot sanction his claim.
  • Not to be facetious but possibly get a diary? I am assuming he made no contact.

get a calendar for the kitchen wall, a big one and get him to fill in every signing on date for the rest of the year and get used to looking at it evry day.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
