First-time Bad Credit Check
Options
Hi everyone,
When I moved into my new place, I found I had a prepayment meter. The only company that would fit a standard meter for me was British Gas, providing that I switched my prepayment meter over to them. This took a few weeks but I'm now set up with them on prepayment.
I called them yesterday to arrange a switch to normal meters, and they did a credit check, as you'd imagine. After a while, they came back and said that I had failed the credit check. They also said that their credit checking system wasn't working and that the request was passed to their Credit Team.
This is the first time I've failed one – I thought I'd pass through easily as usual. I'm going to go to experian and see if there's any erroneous negative data on there.
The Question: When she said it had been passed to their Credit Team, does that mean they didn't do a full check on me, and therefore couldn't see any of my history, and made a quick negative judgement??
Also, will this go on my credit report? I'd like to try another check with them once their credit-check system is back online, but will yesterday's refusal appear on my credit report??
Thanks for any help!
PS –!I couldn't find a forum for credit score/history – hope I'm in the right place!
Cheers
James

If it failed / down its hard to say, they may ask for a security depositDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0
