Hiya,
You've helped me sort pc problems in the past
, thanks. I need some more help with a new issue
My desktop pc won't boot past the winfast screen. I was running some rules on outlook this morning (left it running while I did the school run) and when I came back the pc was off.
I pressed the button, winfast screen came on, then it went off again.
I managed to get it past winfast by pressing f8 and it seemed to be booting as normal, got to windows screen and it shut down again.
I vaguely remember something similar happening ages ago and it was the power unit or something. I've left it off for now.
is this likely to be a mechanical problem rather than virus or software issue? (it has antivirus and firewall, all kept up to date)
Will my data be ok?
How do I find out what the issue is, and fix it?
Many thanks for your help.

Restart, press F8 as before. Select Safe Mode with Networking. If that boots to the desktop use System Restore to go back to the most recent restore point before today. How do I add a signature?0

Hi Figment,
Thanks for that
Managed to successfully boot into safe mode, did a system restore but the problem still remains. It is still shutting itself off.
Anything else I could try?

it may help if you mention what pc it is, and exactly what is on this "winfast" screen, and what comes on screen/happens from the moment you switch on.!!

Boot to safe mode as you did before but this time choose Safe mode with networking.
Download DDS from the link below and save it to your desktop:
Link
After you've downloaded it and saved it to your desktop:- Double click DDS to run it.
- When it's finished, DDS will open two logs:
- DDS.txt
- Attach.txt
Copy & paste the contents of just DDS.txt for now and post it here (you may need to split the log over separate posts)0
