I'd entered the odd competition before without winning so much as a pair of socks, but finally I won a years supply of smoothies (via a competitions site that shared it's name with a duck), and bam, I became a comper! :D

Though that said, I do vaguely remember winning a competition when I was a kid, it was from a magazine I used to get, and I remember it being a book on ghost stories, but I don't remember what magazine (there's a part of my brain that wants to say 'Snap') or what I had to do to win!

Mine was back in 1998 (can't remember what website) and was a computer game, I didn't have the console as I was a broke student so I gave it to my brother as he had the console. I used to have loads of wins from ContactMusic (I won a Pink CD one day and then a Blue one the following day!)

  • My 1st win was a set of limited edition GHD's. They just turned up at the door in a big box and i had no idea what it was. I wasn't even a proper 'comper' at the time! I found this site in April 2011 & entered on & off until August & then stopped and they turned up at the beginning of November! I won them from iVillage & that first win really encouraged me to get into comping & keep at it!

My first win since comping as a hobby was a £20 Argos voucher, which I won from here in November after starting comping in about August.
Prior to that, I entered a steady stream of competitions (although nowhere NEAR as many as I do now) from various newsletters, magazines etc, for about 8 years - and the only thing I ever won was a bottle of Timotei shampoo which just turned up in the post one day!!!

I am still waiting for my luck to pick up though!

My first win after joining in with MSE comping, was a Blackberry with a year's free credit. I'd only been comping a week! :j

I've only been comping since about August and had some really lovely prizes since then.
A MASSIVE thank you to everyone who posts comps

My very first win was the Easter Egg comp at school, I was about 8 years old. I came 2nd with my entry of a Chinese Chef and won a giant Roses Egg. The girl who won had her parents do a Hailey's Comet scene, it was a work of art, and cheating, but my egg was better than hers :rotfl:;) so there lol.

Actually though, my first nationwide comp win was a 7" single of "Kenny D - The Pride Of Liverpool" from a magazine called "Fast Forward" It was signed by Peter Howitt (joey from Bread) and Kenny Dalglish. :T I think I was around 12 when I won that.
I still have it, it's wrapped in a clear folder and stored in a box upstairs. It's one of my favourite possessions. I didn't comp for years after that until I joined this site and 2 days later won a Camcorder from the Heinz Beans competition that was posted here in 2008. That was five years ago  doesn't time fly when you are busy comping :rotfl:
BEST EVER WINS WON IN ORDER (so far) = Sony Camcorder, 32" lcd telly, micro ipod hifi, Ipod Nano, Playstation 3, Andrex Jackpup, Holiday to USA, nintendo wii, Liverpool vs Everton tickets, £250 Reward Your thirst, £500 Pepsi, p&o rotterdam trip, perfume hamper, Dr Who stamp set, steam cleaner.

comping = nowt more thrillin' than winnin':T :j
