Your first win

Options
I was wondering what people's first wins were and when did you win them.

The first thing I remember winning was when I was about 16 (I'm 29 today), it was from Contact Music and it was a cd single of something really random but it spurred me to enter lots of competitions online! I can't believe I've been comping on and off for the last 13 years.

up until 6 months ago, I never really entered comps other that the odd puzzler mag type comps (I mainly did the puzzles as i enjoyed them, not specifically for the comps) so my first win that initially sprung to mind was the Sourz Fusions comp a few months back which was my 1st win through MSE.

    However
..it has just popped into my head that I have won something through a comp before...well as far as I can remember it was a comp. It was a black&white drawing of AJ from the Backstreet Boys. Can't remember where I won it from or when exactly but I guess its from a Smash Hits type mag when I was in my early teens. I was a HUGH fan of Backstreet Boys (AJ was my fav too :D) and tbh would probably still act like teenage girl if i saw them nowadays. I don't think it was even a very good drawing of him :rotfl:

I don't think that win spurred me onto enter comps...in fact i remember cringing slightly when I found the drawing a few yrs ago after being boxed up amongst my stuff...but I'm sure I was very excited when I first received it :D

    oh & happy birthday galaxynicole:bdaycake::o
Wine is made to be drunk, I am drunk, therefore am I wine?
  • Um to be honest I think my first win was about two years ago.
I entered a comp at work and won a family ticket to Thomasland/Drayton Manor :D

I think what helped my win was that only two, yes two members of staff (out of a couple of hundred) entered :rotfl:

I always remember my first win - first week of comping too! It was a book from Bangzo (a daily I was entering at the time) - although the book they sent me wasn't of any use to me (it was about careers and applying to university so donated it to my local charity shop) I was still thrilled because it was a win and it gave me the confidence to go on entering - and here I am 3 years later!
:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea

It was a thornton's raffle and it was a 4 KG solid chocolate easter egg in the shape of a clown. YUMMY. (sighs, remembering)

  • Last march was my first win after 2 weeks of entering about 20 comps a day. I won a box of personalised chocolates (with mine & DH's faces on them) from a blog.

Free chocolate! Who wouldn't be hooked by that :D

May you all have lots of luck, Emma xx

A competition on the local radio, you had to do a singing impersonation of someone and I did Anastacia, when they rang back they asked if I could do more so I did Shakira - it was actually a voting competition and I didn't ask anyone to vote for me and still won so I was pretty pleased with myself. The prize was just a few albums.

Since I started actually comping though my first win was a book from Bangzo when they were doing the daily giveaways.

The first competition I ever won was one in Learning Is Fun magazine when I was about 5...it had been ages since I entered and we hadn't heard anything either, when all of a sudden the postie brought a spirograph :D
I've only been comping on here for 2 and a half weeks, so haven't won anything yet. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for something soon...I'm finding it all very exciting :D

I think my first win was a purple cat toy....it was a comp I entered randomly and the prize turned up months and months later when I had forgotten about it.
My thought process went something like: "I like random things in the post" "Winning is fun" "Ooh there's a competitions board on MSE." I was merrily clicking away by the end of the day. :rotfl:

So my first official comping win came about 2-3 weeks after that, a Rimmel Lipstick. I will never forget the delight at receiving my first WEM!
That was six months ago now and I have been very lucky ever since, with a steady stream of wins coming in.
  • first comp win was today after two weeks of comping and i have won an espresso machine
