Barclaycard have put a late payment on my credit file

Hi guys.
I need some advice. I'm going to be applying for a mortgage within the next 6 months so was taking a look through my credit report on Experian. I was shocked to find that Barclaycard have put a missed payment marker on for December 2012.
I did have an issue with them in December - To cut a long story short, my account had fraudulent activity on it which caused me to go over my limit. I had two £12 charges on the account which I got removed. I paid the minimum payment that month of £42 however the system said I had not met the minimum payment for that statement even though it showed £0 minimum left to pay! It turned out that these two charges got added to my minimum payment and not removed. I called Barclaycard and was told to ignore it as it has been sorted there end.
In Jan 2013, I got my statement as normal and there were no charges for missed payment etc so I thought everything had been sorted. It's only when I checked with Experian that I noticed the marker.
How can I get this removed? Barclaycard neither accepted or denied that it was their fault, even though they credited my account with £30 and froze my interest for 2 months as a 'goodwill gesture for any inconvenience'
If I missed a payment I could understand, but I didn't I paid on time.
Thanks guys....Advice appreciated

Make a formal complaint...explaining all the facts, also mentioning the fact that you are in process of applying for a mortgage later on this year, but to be honest 1 late marker on a spotless credit report will have very little impact, a mortgage lender I doubt would decline your application just for that....0

Ditto to Stephanes comment:
Heres Barclaycards complaint procedure:

These things can be removed, but you may have to fight for it. I know because I have had it done! Sounds like you have a good case.
As has been said 1 late payment should be ok but as we all know (apart from a few goody two shoes on here who seem to be able to run perfect lives ) sh*t happens. And if for some reason beyond your control you get another then that may be a different picture.
Write to barclays explaining and instigate formal investigations with the 3 CRAs who will also chase it on your behalf.0 -
You are giving the CRA too much credibility. A single missed payment is a statement of fact (the reason for which is irrelevant) and in itself no indication of any wrongdoing by the data subject. Only when this carries forward into a pattern would this be of any relevance. Neither is it a default of any kind.0

Exactly my point. Getit removed if possible. 1 is a solitary event but if for some reason you should get another then that could be seen as a pattern and people may start digging around.....
Start NOW because it wont happen overnight
Just best not to go there!.0 -
Many thanks guys. Will use the customer complaint number to start with and see where that gets me, will report back...0

Hi guys just thought I'd give a quick update. It's been roughly 2 months and I've only just got round to getting in touch with them.
Anyhow, good result. I followed the link on this thread and made a complaint to barclaycard, I got a call today, less than 24 hours later from a friendly voice who apologised for the inconvenience. I've been told that the late payment marker will be removed from my credit file within 24-48 hours. Also, they will credit my account with £20 good will gesture within 48 hours. Good result I'd say.
Quick question though - the marker was on both my Experian and Equifax reports, will it be removed from both?
Thanks in advance0 -

Why didnt you ask the question to person who called you?
Maybe you should contact them ask them to clarify.
However I would imagine they would update the information will all the CRAs.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
To be honest, as daft as it sounds I didn't think to ask at the time I was just happy that it was being removed :-) will just have to wait and see I guess...0

Quick update: the marker has been removed from both Equifax and Experian. Turned out to be quite painless in the end :j0
