Whiskas coupons

Hi all,

A few weeks back I rehomed a couple of kittens from the RSPCA. As Whiskas pouches were given to them whilst in their care I thought it best not to upset their tummies and opted to continue using this variety.

I noticed on the box of kitten food, in big coloured letters, there was an offer for free money off vouchers and to venture to the whiskas website to register and obtain these. Unfortunately although I registered I was unable to find any vouchers and no message to say these were no longer available. I checked the box once again and no where on it is there any mention of 'limited offer' or 'subject to availability' or any other such wording that would suggest I had missed out.

I contacted whiskas direct via email to ask if there was something I had missed only to be advised the offer was no longer running but to save waste they continue to use their boxes and expected there probably are a number of these still out in the market.

I know this may seem a bit petty to be pursuing this but legally what are a companies obligations when it comes to misleading statements made on packaging? Surely if the offer is no longer available then some wording referring to a time limit or closing date would be required? Not sure where I stand in pursuing this with whiskas? I know it's only a few coupons at the end of the day but every penny counts and surely it is misleading to draw consumers in, making them register details with the company and coaxing them in with offers that are no longer valid?

Any thoughts please...?

  • i would have thought that somewhere in the t&c's it said that they reserve the right to withdraw the offer at any time

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.
  • Thanks for the response, yes I would of thought so too. No where on the box however does it say about being a limited offer etc, that's not to say the website doesn't though. Surely it should have the info on the box stating subject to availability otherwise you are buying the product under a false pretence to some extent?
  • yes i agree but i would have thought that it either had subject to t&c's or E&OE

  • I don't think it would be wrong anywhere, i would suggest that just go through some official whiskas coupons website & surf again. Hope that would help you.
