Inheritance query

I am in the process of starting an IVA (creditor meeting end of the month) and wonder what would happen to any inheritance my husband would receive from his mothers estate during the life of IVA. It is not a joint IVA and he is named in her will, not me.

Comments

  • Based on your information, I believe that he would be able to keep the lot. It's only if the inheritence was left to you jointly that you would then be required to pay up your IVA.

Worth clarifying with your IVA provider though.
  • If the IVA is in your sole name and the inheritence is your husbands, your IP will have no claim over the money.

If this did happen your husband could consider settling your IVA early if that was an option
  • Thanks, of course it is a purely hypothetical question, she will live to be a hundred.
