Blood in stool (cat)

We are looking at getting a cat and have found a lovely ginger cat at the local RSPCA and are in the process of adopting him. We are informed that he has had blood in his poo since Monday. He was seen by the vet that changed his food and also gave him the OK to be re-homed.
I would just like to know although I will be taking out insurance for the cat I want to know that I am getting a healthy cat. How common is blood in poo in cats is it something I should ask them to investigate further before I commit to him?
Sorry for noob questions I have not owned a cat before. I am guessing they would not want to re-home a poorly cat and the vet gave the all clear but I cant help but think that blood in the poo of any animal is not a healthy sign?
Appreciate any advice on this.

Hi,
I can't help feeling that if I were in your situation I would want to speak to the vet who examined the cat. Hopefully they can give you the details.
