Declined Halifax Student Account REALLY WORRIED

I had applied for a Halifax Student account last summer before starting university, however when they sent me out the application forms I decided not to proceed with it , and went with the Santander Student account instead.
About 6 weeks ago I then applied for the Halifa Student Account with the intention of moving from santander and exclusively using the halifax
however this application was declined and i am now very worried incase it has damaged my credit rating which was excellent before this.
i want to veiw my credit report however i dont want it to come up that ther have been too many veiws on it as this also reduces it
any advice would be greatly apprechiated
thanks in advance

Viewing your credit report does not affect your creditworthiness in anyway.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0

But collecting bank accounts and lines of credit everywhere does. BMW I seem to recall you had a penchant a while back for opening all the credit cards/ "premium" bank accounts you could, just for the sake of it? Forgive me if I'm confusing you with someone else.
If this is the case though, it could be that Halifax have decided that they'd rather not, based upon the amount of searches / available credit to declared income.0 -
you are confusing me with someone else lol
thanks do you's know if the halifax rejection has a big impact on my credit report or not? im very young and confused! thanks 0 -
I was rejected for a Halifax student account too, but managed to walk out with a big-ish overdraft of £1850 with Natwest, so I guess it's just lending criteria.
The rejection from Halifax turned out to be a blessing in disguise in later years, having being an executor for a family member whose accounts were with Halifax; never will I own a Halifax product as long as I live. The service was shockingly awful.0 -
I would also say if you have been rejected for a credit application then do not try another one in such a short space of time. Just cool it - and wait about 6 months before you try again. Too many credit searches in one go is not good for your record.0

Well 2 searches in 6 months is ok, so if you haven't applied for any other credit or bank accounts in the past 6 months, you can apply for one more, maybe go in store and say you want to switch. I opened my HSBC student account in the bank itself.
But if you try to apply for more than 2 bank accounts within 6 months, banks will see you as a risk, until the 6 months is up anyway.0 -
How do you know you have an excellent credit record......
Whos told you....For everthing else there's mastercard.
For clampers there's Barclaycard.0 -
The ony impact a declined application has on your credit file is the search.
Nothing more. Nothing less.
In the past Halifax used to be very wary of opening student accounts outside the freshers period. Decline rates were always higher. No idea if that's still the case.
Where on earth did you get that garbage from?i want to veiw my credit report however i dont want it to come up that ther have been too many veiws on it as this also reduces it0 -
I suspect the OP is confusing views and searches.0
