hi
i have a 9 year old with a high reading age, who wants to read the h.i.v.e books, i've heard they have a bit of romance in them, is it true?
they are aimed at teenagers not a 9 year old child.
my girl is very tomboyish and i love that she is not growing up to fast, like other children her age. i want her to enjoy been a child for a bit longer. i don't want her reading too much about love and boy/girlfriends yet.
i would like to know if they are suitable for her?
her brother is 10 and he he also read them after her.
thank you

I havent read the books you refer to but IMO if she has asked for them then I would get them. Any beyond her age group comments will either go over her head or pique her curiosity to get an understanding of what is being talked about - neither a bad thing in my book.
My daughter read loads from my bookshelves at a young age, everything from supernatural to chick lit to murder mystery. Its all good

I haven't heard of or read them, so I just googled them and on the reviews on amazon someone says suitable for 9-12 market. I had a higher reading age and I just used to read stuff and keep my mouth shut to my parents.
You could borrow the book yourself and read it first. Even if your dd isn't interested in boys and romance, I should imagine she's hearing about it, my own 9 year old daughter tells me each week who is the latest 'boyfriend/girlfriend' couple in her year. 0 -
I grew up before there was so much young fiction.
You really do not want to know what she could easily be reading by the age of 11. And not by virtue of being advanced, by being like everybody else.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll
