Sonic decoder problem 47010

Previously when i was using Sonic to make my dvd's it worked fine but today when i tried it came up with an error message saying "Could not make a thumbnail. Make sure you have the appropriate decoder installed - 47010"
By googling the phrase it seems there are loads of problems with this error.. I cannot re-install as it came preinstalled on the dell pc.I have tried reinstalling DivX 6.5, no help.
Any ideas or what can i use thats free to make dvds?
