This sounds remarkably like Matterbox from 2011. 1 box got sent out then nothing happened after that. Their website is still up I cant post links yet but a google search will bring it up.

I'm a little concerned as I let my thirteen year old GS enter his details on the box of awsome site and I don't like them asking him for money now.

I suspect the demand to join has taken them by surprise and now giving you the option of a "subscription" will mean they can help fund the idea.

Matterbox was very much a hit and miss affair with some people receiving 1 or 2 boxes and others receiving nothing before it all dried up. The contents of those boxes were not of high value as they were providied by other companies and undoubtedly this will be the same.

I certainly would not pay and feel this has to be treated as a possible good freebie if anything arrives and, if not, well it was worth a try.

I think you will just have to tell your son this is a marketing excercise, don't pay anything and wait for the surprise if it arrives - will teach him that the saying "nothing in life is free" is very true.

Can't understand the 'digital box', after clicking to get it, all I've got is a PC game which won't work on my Mac. Bit misleading as it has pictures of headphones so I was hoping for some music.

The 'physical box' keeps going to 0 available, but if you keep refreshing, more are being added in groups of 10 every few minutes or so. It only took me two attempts to get mine. Seems that the contents are very boyish. I can see Skylanders Dog Tags, and the book 'The Hunt' by Andrew Fukuda.

Just managed to nab a physical box and received this email:

"Congratulations, your Box of Awesome has been secured and will be shipped to your address shortly. Depending on where you live, this may take a few days but please be assured that it will get to you!
