Pudding?

I was just wondering: how many of you have pudding every day?
We have pudding only occasionally, once a month maybe. It's not because we can't afford it but rather that we don't need it.
When I read these forums it seems to me that a lot of people have pudding every day even when they are broke.
My LO will start nursery later in the year and I have asked for a sample menu. I was surprised to see that children have pudding every day there. Surely at under 2 years old they don't need apple crumble with custard?
What are your thoughts?

A pudding everyday no but maybe once a week say.
I would have thought a piece of fruit would have been a better choice.
I was responding to the context as in pre school.
Home wise I have a pudding when I want and when I do its just some ice cream or something small.0 -
Yes, we have pudding pretty well every day. It's more likely to be a yoghurt, biscuit or some ice cream though, rather than a hot pud with custard, and it's usually accompanied by a nice cup of tea. We're not fatties with rotten teeth either, just like a bit of a treat to end the meal with.:)0

Children have a pudding after their main meal of the day, but its a light one - yoghurt or tinned or fresh fruit - maybe a bit of ice cream in the summer. "Proper puddings" such as crumble or rice pudding or sponge & custard etc are something we only have once in a while, and only following a light main meal (i.e. we might have veggie soup for our main evening meal, but then follow that with apple crumble etc)
I think we're pretty normal? Certainly whenever we have children over to play they seem to expect a pudding after dinner, but again more of the yoghurt/mousse/angel delight/jelly type than heavy cooked puds.0 -
Normally a yoghurt or a biscuit.
Puddings have always been a norm throughout my childhood and my DHs so we have continued it for ours.
We normally see it as a calcium boost to get into the children with the yoghurt, but try to make it a little more interesting for them with the odd biscuit every now and then0 -
We have pudding every day, but not a heavy pudding like crumble - I would do that maybe once a week, as a weekend treat when everyone is home.
Saying that, pudding here is usually fruit, or a yoghurt, or maybe banana and custard, unless I have been baking with one of the kids, in which case it could be something home baked. Most of that I would say is a reasonably healthy option as part of a healthy and balanced diet.
My only problem with the pudding at the nursery that my son very briefly attended, was that they got it regardless of whether they had eaten their dinner, and if they wanted more, they got more. I think it took my DS about a week to figure out that he could refuse the main course and then have three puddings! Which then resulted in tears and tantrums at home when refusing dinner meant you clearly weren't hungry enough for pudding.0 -
I was going to say we never have pudding, but I do like something sweet after my dinner
Sometimes just a Twink, maybe a chocolate biscuit, or some grapes or something.
Full on puddings like crumbles, pies and cream etc, maybe once a month? Something I love but not in the budget at all just now xCan't think of anything smart to put here...0 -
We always have a hot pudding with custard/cream on a Sunday but tend not to have any pudding in the week. If we fancy anything it'll be a biscuit/yogurt or something.0

Once or twice a week, as a treat. I would love to have something sweet everyday, but I can't if I want to keep my weight (currently trying to lose some, but after that will have to keep it).
When we have it it tends to be a chocolate mousse (which has same calories as a yogurt), and maybe once a month something nicer (like a GU).0 -
In the 80s when I was at Primary School, everyone had pudding every day... My grandparents also had pudding everyday after dinner - typically something heavy with custard, or a semolina/rice pudding. That said, they came from the era of rations and war, whereas we don't!0

My boyfriend & I never really do, except when sometimes one of us cooks a full 3 course meal for a special occasion! Even then we usually don't eat it until an hour or two after the main meal anyway so it's not really dessert IMO. I pretty much only have dessert when I go for a meal out. Never really had it much growing up either, and never had starters either. I usually ate enough just with the main meal lol.Kate.0
