Hi Folks

My on/off switch (which is situated underneath the monitor)for my 3 year old Packard Bell desk top is not working properly. Very often the PC is on and the switch does not work - i.e. I get a blank screen.

Do you think there may be a loose connection or is there some type of fault with thee software?

Thank You.

Sorry - Not really sure what you mean here. If the PC is on and you press the power switch, you would expect it to go off - hence the blank screen?

    Packard Bell desk top

Is this an all-in-one or a proper desktop with a separate monitor?

    Hi Folks

    Thanks for your replies.

It's a proper desk top with a separate monitor.

mr fish_bulb - When I switch on the PC (by switching on the 'tower'), the PC switches on automatically but it is the monitor that I am having problems with - it does not switch on even after repeatedly pressing the on/odff switch.

That would be a hardware issue.

Stupid question: is the monitor connected to a live power outlet?

Not a stupid question, it is the first and most obvious thing to check of course along with the fuse in the plug.

OP do you have another monitor you can try

    Hi Folkd

    Thanks for your replies.

Yes, the monitor is connected to a live power outlet.

Unfortunately, I do not have a spare monitor.

My (almost) brand new Medion PC has a similar problem - the switch is "sticky" - it does switch on - but needs a second or third push before it springs to life !!
Try pushing and holding the switch on for a couple of seconds

    This is a hardware problem.
