Well done. You did your homework and were bullish.

I wonder what TradePro has to say about your negotiations.

He reckoned a broker price and a top end trade in couldn't be achieved, you have shown it can be.

Ford dealers need to shift motors, the dealer plays swings and roundabouts, someone else won't be as tough as you and the dealer will have a field day.

I think you got a really good deal there, certainly a great price on the new car (assuming it's a Zetec spec again?) and a lovely monthly payment.

Whilst you did better than I thought you might, you did pay £350 over broker price, and I guess actually got £7000 for yours (£1500 equity...), but still, again better than I thought.

Nicely done, enjoy the new motor :)
And that my son, is how to waft a towel!
  • When I buy a new car, can you come with me?
    Je suis sabot...
  • No problem :)
  • Don't worry about getting the broker price as last time I looked on dtd, Ford quotes were for cars registered to small companies and vat registered individuals. However, as they say, the cheapest car to own is the one you already do. Your new car will depreciate nearly the same value (to buy out of the current agreement) of your current car over the two years and you still won't own it but you would with your current car. It makes no financial sense changing a 2 year old car if you're doing 3k miles a year, remind me why you feel compelled to take this route?

Maybe they like new cars, prefer the facelift model, don't want to MOT and prefer having a guarantee?

All good reasons to bring another car to the 2nd hand world in a few years ;)
  • As nomoneytoday says, we like having a new car every 2 years (or my wife does at least). We like having worry free motoring. I have no mortgage and this is a little luxury. Paying £88 per month for a new car with a full guarantee is a small price to pay I feel. It doesn't bother me that the car doesn't belong to me in the same way that a company car would never belong to me!
