Brake fluid query

Noticed on my Ford Focus (2006), that the bake fluid is just above the min mark. Thought it was just a case of topping up with Dot 4, but in Ford manual it says in Block Capitals DO NOT TOP UP. Only if below Minimum ?? What should I do, why does it say this ??

Has the warning light on your dash board come on? If not leave well alone. You state that it is above the min level and that is perfectly fine.

To allow for expansion of the fluid in the system. Now it is sub winter, take a hot summer day and a long hilly run with heavy brake use the level will rise in the reservoir and you need the capacity to accomodate it.

it's more likely that your pads are fairly worn down.
As they wear, the fluid level drops.

Pads wear the level drops and when they fit new pads the level goes back up again.

You top it up and they fit new pads, If they forget you get brake fluid leaking out the resevoir.

Check the pads 1st. Due for replacement?

Might be an idea to get the fluid done with the pads you don't know when it was last done.

Not worth cutting costs when it comes to things like brakes!
