What is it with a "family bathroom"?

According to the property programs, we have committed the ultimate sin - we have taken the bath/shower out of our "family bathroom" and put only a shower back in its place (it is a really big shower - it has a seat in it and doubles as a steam cabin). We figured we'd rather have the bathroom how we wanted it rather than worry about potential resale value in a lot of years time.0

We have a pretty small bathroom. The bath just about fits down one side (1.7m) and the toilet and basin just about fit on the other side (1.8m).
I don't understand metres! Whats that in feet? It certainly sounds small. Rather like ours which is 6 foot wide and 4 foot 8 inches. The bath sits in a recess which juts over the stairs and that bit is 5 foot 2 inches (as is the bath).
I love my bath because I am only 5' myself and can lie in it with my feet resting against the end. It is the original 1930's white, cast iron bath and has four feet. When we bought our house in 1985 white suites were very unfashionable but Ive always like having white because you can change the colour of the bathroom so easily. Now, of course, it has come back into fashion!
We also have a downstairs shower room which is fitted out in pampas green and I also love that colour as its not 'in your face' as some colours are.0 -

Is there a link? Otherwise I think I'm going to search rightmove.

You will notice that one of the properties with a "family bathroom" on this page is a STUDIO flat:rotfl:
I live in a 1-bedroom flat, and my bathroom is a good size, off the hallway, and very nice. But I certainly couldn't fit a family in my flat(Edit: unless, that is, they actually lived IN the bathroom
)

On a related subject, I have yet to come across an EA who can differentiate between a "low level" and a "close coupled" toilet - they all get called "low level" !0

Excuse my ignorance but what is the difference between a 'low level' and a 'close coupled' toilet?
A "close coupled" is where the cistern actually sits on the back of the toilet bowl structure. (Most are now this type).
"Low Level" is where the cistern is wall mounted mounted above the bowl and is connected to it with a short length of pipe.
It's all here - and more !

Well I can't imagine anyone wanting a "high level" one, you'd have to stand on a step to reach it. (I nearly put "stand on a stool" but I'll leave that one for Nelly
).
While we're nit-picking (I love it), what about those wash basins that look more like an ornamental fruit bowl, and probably only hold about a pint of water. Also they always have a tap fixed right in the middle, which is totally impractical for face washing, teeth cleaning etc. I like a wash basin with taps at the sides, that is big enough to wash my hair over with a jug, should the need arise, not some decorative little bird bath.
I get really annoyed when TV presenters take one look at the kitchen and state "well those tiles will have to go". I usually like them myself, and shout at the screen "says who?". They are always waxing poetic about the floor boards too, for goodness sake they are only floor boards .I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

Us too!We used the bath as a bath maybe twice a year when one of us had strained a muscle so we decided to get rid. Now the proud owners of a double shower cubicle with super duper shower. Plus its better for the environment as it uses far less water even if we both have 2 showers a day.
I never understood why anyone would want to sit in their own gravy for hours festering away, bathing just doesn't feel clean but then I have multiple OCD's :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
