Seller help

I want to ask something on behalf of my sister who is new to ebay. I can't say I've ever had this problem myself whilst selling so thought best to get community advice.
Sister is selling clothes on ebay. One listing is ending in 1 hour, she ironed the 'delicate' item but it accidentally burnt - not even badly, hardly noticeable but she wanted to be honest. She emailed the 1 bidder on the item and apologised and said she would send her the item for free for inconvenience caused (I would of just left it at a sincere apology but she only asked my advice after sending email). We have now ended the listing and sold to highest said bidder as we couldn't cancel bids and end item due to it being under 12 hours left etc.
Seeing as she has said she will send the item free she can't really not do that now. If she does this how does she get around it not looking like there has been non payment by buyer? Can they just mutually cancel the transaction and she will still send the item but accept a loss? What would you do?
All advice appreciated.
Thanks.

If you end an auction and sell to the highest bidder then just mark the item as payment received and also mark it as dispatched. This is what you would do anyway if someone collected on person and paid cash.
Alternatively she can send a mutual cancellation request and if it is accepted she will at least get the final valuation selling fee back.0 -
Great, cheers. So as I thought just wanted to make sure. Many thanks. The Year Of DreamsBig Love To All Comp Sharers
