I was offered Diamondbrite from my Ford dealer costing £400! I refused. I would like to protect my car body.. Put something on it that means it does not get so dirty looking, so needs less washing. Can I do this myself with a wax coating or better still is it offered at the car wash.

Also where is a good place to get fitted Ford Fiesta car seat covers. I am looking for washable seat covers. Thanks :T

Go on to a web site , most motoring sites have a sub forum on car detailing. Look at the products they use (like DODO JUICE) and do the car yourself. Will be just as good for a tenth of the price.

    http://www.dodojuice.com/dodo-juice-detailing.html

above is entertaining site to browse even if you only have a bicycle ( no pecuniary involvement)

Buy a spray can of Scotchguard fabric protector.

Any wax/sealant is better than the Diamondbrite snake oil unless you live in a flat and never ever wash your car in which case Diamondbrite is better than nothing.

  • A decent quality wax should be sufficient. I've been pleasantly surprised by Auto Glym's Super Resin Polish followed by Extra Gloss. Easy to apply and quite long lasting.

Diamondbrite at a dealers is a total rip off.

Ask my neighbour...he's a valeter, and does it for around £80, and the dealers would get my neighbour in to do it then rip the customer off.

    Try Mer.
That's my mutt in the picture above.

Diamondbrite is nothing more than a sealant with a warranty of sorts tacked onto it. My friend works at a salesman at a VW dealership and he hates selling it. The reason it is so expensive is that:

    (1) The PDI/valet gets minimum wage to apply it.
    (2) The salesman gets a cut for selling it.
    (3) The sales manager gets a cut.
    (4) The dealership gets a cut.
    (5) The Diamondbrite rep gets a cut.
    (6) The Diamondbrite sales manager gets a cut.
    (7) Diamondbrite get a cut.

Thanks everyone. Can you get a decent protective was from a car wash machine?

If you really want to take care of your car then be careful about spilling things inside, that's all you need to worry about for the interior.

If you really don't want to clean the car regularly/properly yourself just get it valeted every once in a while. The wax etc they will do should be much better than the diamondbright stuff - Ask yourself, if it is so great, why don't Ford apply it to the cars themselves?
What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?
