Hi
Ive been using Dropbox to save all the photos I take on my camera phone automatically. However I went to SA recently and it did not save any of the pics I took out there, including the ones I took on the plane in the UK before take off?
For the first few days in SA I had data roaming on all the time and within 4 days I received a message I had reached my limit and had no internet access thereafter. So if I had internet access even in a different country, why did the pics I took up till that point not automatically sync to Dropbox?
My phone was unfortunately stolen after that so I am hoping there is a way I can somehow retrieve the pics I took in that time. I contacted my service provider to block the phone and also I activated the new sim I got today. And I don't know if that now means the photos are forever gone. Is there anything I can do, anyone please, those photos are really dear to me and I would be really gutted if I couldn't get them back somehow

If they arent in dropbox now, then i would say they are gone0

My guess is they are gone. was it the free version of dropbox or have you paid for extra storage/service.
If paid then get in touch with dropbox, if free then not a lot you can do.
In future maybe save pics on to some kind of physical storage rather than rely on a virtual storage system0 -

I have set my phone so it only syncs photos to dropbox when connected by wifi, even then it will pause the upload if the battery is low. The battery does not have to be particularly low for the upload to stop, it seems to cut off at about 50%.

I use Dropbox to back up my photos too. There is a setting for "Wifi upload only" so if you had that ticked and were using 3g while you were away, the photos won't have uploaded.0

Seems possible now that my phone setting was upload from wifi only as well, as I would get the same message about not loading while battery is low etc. I don't remember clicking this option, but it must be the reason why it didn't download.
Thank you for your responses, I guess now I just have to accept the photos are gone, along with the hoodlums who took my phone :mad:0 -
If WiFi only upload - should the phone be connected to wifi sometime in the future would your photos be upload then?0

I was thinking the same thing earlier, if my phone wasn't wiped (fat chance of that) then if they were to connect to wifi, would my pics still upload? (if not deleted either).0

Its quite possible. Imagine if the villains went on to take take photos of themselves :-)
