Which first - increase the green, or apply for blue?

in Credit cards
My anniversary month starts May 1st with Egg Green. My current limit is
£10K. Not being greedy, but wondered if they might give me £15K if I asked.
However, should I do this first and then apply for an Egg Blue after, so that
I can SBT via Egg Blue when the green is out of action. Or should I apply for Blue first and then see if they will increase the Green limit?
Anyone done this already? Any thoughts welcomed.

Make sure you can balance transfer from the Blue card, I'm not sure that you can. I just used my anniversary offer on my Green card to transfer its limit to my current account along with the 25% which they agreed to when spaking to them.

I was planning on creating a positive balance on the blue card, whenever I
apply for other credit cards during that period.0 -
Sorry if I'm getting this wrong Mary, but whats the use of a positive balance on a Blue card if you can't balance transfer from it. Go to https://www.egg.com and read what you can do with your Blue card. Once again sorry if I am misreading you situation,

You can indeed create a positive balance on the blue card and then sbt it to your current account. I suggest you do the following:
1. Try and increase your green credit limit on the egg web site now, assuming you haven't recently tried.
2. If you don't get the full 15K max limit then try again just before your anniversary date.
3. SBT your green credit limit, remember to set to your payments to minimum and not to use the card again for the full 5 months.
4. Apply for the Blue card and use it for day to day use if you wish and as a mule for positive SBTs during the 5 month period the green card is out of action.
I have done all of the above and it works, I am just coming to the end of my 5 month SBT on the green card so I am in the process of paying it off with a BT from Cap 1 (fingers crossed).
Best of luck

Mary,
With regard to my previous reply it may be better to try to increase the limit to say £12K at the first attempt. See other posts on this site for peoples experience in this area.and short arms!0 -
Thanks for the advice. Will let you know how much I get.
By the way I hope your "short arms" can still reach your money!0 -
What I did was applied for blue - they gave me the same limit as green (8K).
I then sent a secure message asking to trf 7K of my blue limit to green - no probs.
This done I had 15K green for the anniversary offer and 1K blue for 'muling' purposes (it also saves having too high available credit on your file).
Good luck
