Overdraft payments

Hi, I have had a letter from the bank I thought I used to use which is for overdraft charges. I asked for the account to be closed two years ago and just to keep a personal loan I have with them. The account was slightly overdrawn but I asked them to add it to the loan and I would clear it all in 18 months. I now have a letter for an overdraft to be paid and it as nearly reached £1000. In the last two years I've had no communication from the bank, no statements and nothing querying why no money has been going into this account until now.

Where do I stand? If I owed money that's ok I'll pay it but it's been building interest and charges for nearly two years now.

The loan you had, surely you had some kind of communication about that?
Did they put increase it as you requested to pay off the OD?
  • To be honest I don't really know what's going on I now have found te statements for the loan which is different to the two account numbers the bank have. Te overdraft is on the current account. I have a letter to say the loan account is closed but I have had no statements or communication re: the current acc from the bank to be able to tell. I've only been sorting this out with the collections art of Natwest. I cleared some of it which means it'll now be dealt with at branch level so I'm off to make an appointment there. Hopefully it'll become clearer then.
