Just changed to Scottish power and found Economy 7 meter faulty

Hi I just changed from EDF to Scottish Power dual fuel fixed till 2014. I had to give a meter reading for EDF and then about a fortnight later do it again for Scottish power. That was when I realised that the night rate on my economy 7 meter had stopped working and that it was permanently on day rate. I mentioned this to SP and they said someone would contact me. The meter was definitely working last year as can be seen from my previous EDF bills but now it is stuck permanently on day rate. Someone from SP rang and said that it would cost £50 to change the meter and I was better of just leaving things as they are. However I can't help but think that I am probably paying more to have a eco7 m meter than I would for a single rate meter. I couldn't find anything on the SP site that lets you compare the rates for different plans. My entire gas and electricity bill is only about £60 per month. Does anybody understand this or know where I can get a chart showing the different rates from SP?

There should be no charge to change the meter if it is faulty.

I can't believe the SP rep suggested you keep the faulty meter.
Contact the one on this board by email for a more sensible response (give a link to this thread) :)

SP will charge you if you wish to change your E7 meter to a single rate meter
(I think the current SP cost for this is £45.91 for an electric meter - again the SP rep on this site will be able to confirm this to you)
  • OK how do I do that?
  • sorry to seem daft but I followed the link and couldn't find anyway to contact or email this person or to post anything on their profile thingy. Any clues?
