At my wit's end with Vista installing Lexmark

I've posted before and have tried the solutions previously suggested

I have Vista home edition, I'm trying to install my Lexmark Z640 printer. Obviously the disk which came with it originally doesn't work with vista, so I've been to the Lexmark website, downloaded the driver software and unzipped the file ready to install, I then get the message that a previous version is installed on my computer & to uninstall it

there isn't a previous version as I've deleted/uninstalled all previous but the install will not go past this point. I click uninstall, goes through that, restarts windows, goes again and comes up exactly the same that I need to uninstall a previous version

aaarrgghh

It's driving me crazy, I can't get the darned printer to install whatever I do - does anyone have any suggestions - apart from place the printer on the floor and jump up and down on it until it smashes into 5 million trillion tiny pieces:mad:

Was THIS the driver download page, your printer is listed as supported. And have you tried system restore to take you back before you installed the printer.

Another forum suggests you do a search for lexmark on your pc and then delete everything you find named lexmark. Then download cc cleaner to get rid of the remains, re-boot and try to re-install again.
Dont forget to download the drivers first.....
:confused:I have nothing better to do!!!!

I was going to recommeded something similair. Download ccleaner and run the tools option and it might pickup lexmark to uninstall which windows may have missed.

other thing you can do is reload the original non compatable driver then use cccleaner to remove.

sometimes corrupt files wont budge untill you reload the orignal up.
