changing meters from prepaid

Need a bit of advice...

Currently I have Prepaid meters, Electricy from Eon & gas from Ebico.

I would like to switch to credit meters & go on a dual fuel tariff & possibly earn a few quid from a cash back site.

Question is,would i be better getting the meters changed before I switch or would the new provider change the meters?

You need to bear in mind that most suppliers now charge about £50-60 per meter to change and you will need to pass a credit check.

    This link might help you:

Remember, Ebico charge the same amount for their energy no matter how you pay, so changing won't save you any money with them.

Just checked on Uswitch, its says I could save £397 a year if I paid by mnthly direct debit...
  • It depends on the company you want to go for. British Gas do not charge you to switch from prepaid to monthy. Scottish Power charge about £50.

Best thing to do is to find the providers you are happy to go with, then give them a call to see whether they will charge you to switch.

You may need to switch from the current provider to the new provider as a prepaid customer first then convert.
