I started a diet this morning and allowed myself 50g of porridge........it was way too much and couldnt finish it! I will try 40g next time and see how this goes, however I do get a lunch break:-) good luck!
  • Up the eggs to two? (no extra bread)
  • I have 35g porridge oats and 250ml liquid - either 250ml water OR 125ml water and 125ml semi-skimmed.

I top mine with 1tsp golden syrup and cut a banana up through it -nom!

My bag of oats says a portion should be 38g and actually I think it makes quite a lot of porridge - although it depends how long you want it to keep you trucking for!

    Debt-free and Proud!
Ds and myself like porridge, for us we use 1 cup oats 1 cup milk 1 cup water.

Ds likes to top with a sprinkle of sugar at present I am topping mine with a small chopped apple.

If I am making porridge for me it's half amount but no milk it's made with water alone.

  • I would have BOTH, I am a great believer in early morning protein, be it pate on toast, ham sandwich, full english etc AND Porridge which is THE holy grail of staying fuller for longer because of the low GI count.

I use Flahaven organic rolled oats and waitrose large free range eggs for preference and cheap it out rest of the week to lower costs.
Eggs are cheap as is porridge, yours and mine idea of cheap may differ but the principle is the same.
Protein helps keep hunger at bay as does porridge, IMHO you need both not either/or with enough milk to ensure adequate vitamin D.
