I need to make £1000 by the end of March...

I had great plans for paying off my £3k credit card by summer time, I had a carefully planned budget etc and was sure I'd do it this time. And I need to do it as i have promised my husband that I will.

However, I woefully underestimated how much money I was going to have coming in in January and I am now short. It's not so much the credit card, but we have a holiday we need to pay at the end of March and I need to find this money. I know holidays are not worth getting into debt for, I know holidays shouldn't be booked until you can afford them etc but we are going with family and they booked it. I am so stressed but not paying is not an option. My original plan included being able to afford this but it's all gone wrong.

I have a few plans - if I can get some extra money through my business that would be good but it needs people to want it, IYSWIM so I am advertising as much as I can for free. I am also on maternity leave from my real job so I have 10 keeping in touch days to do, which will bring in £70 a time I think. I need some of that money for other stuff too though so can't take that as £700 of my £1000.

What can I sell? I've ebayed stuff before but I need to get on it properly... What kind of stuff do people buy?

If I can just up my income in these next two months I will be back on track but I'm not sure i have £500 worth of stuff to sell!

All ideas appreciated!

  • You could do swagbucks? I make £50 cash a month at least? I have a referral code if youd like it? x

have you done the usual - check for old phones, unwanted gold etc that might raise some cash. Clothes, books etc on ebay - do you have any slimming stuff - that sells well at the moment :D

I would love £50 a month off swaggers but the surveys drive me mad. Without too much hassle I make £5 a week or £25 a month if I go for the amazon vouchers.

good luck with your quest for a £1,000 - I am aiming for £200 lol.
  • Thanks...what's swagbucks? I'm happy to give anything a go!

I've just signed up with textbrokers after seeing a post on the up your income board.

I've got baby clothes I could sell? And I've got a broken iPhone 3GS? Do you think anyone would want it?! No jewellery, well apart from some diamond earrings - any idea where I could sell them? They are worth £400 but from an ex so don't mean anything to me and I never wear them!

I know it's a crazy target but if I could manage it I could stay on track for the debt payoff and wouldn't end up running up more debts by spending on credit card.

Am also planning on eating beans for the next two month!

I have told my H that I am struggling so at least he knows. I've told him I will find a way to fix it. Hopefully he will be on board with the saving money thing too which would help me out as well.
  • The Money Shop accepts gold and jewelry, might be worth a try there!

Cool, I'll give them a try... I don't know if I will get what they are worth but its worth a try!

I've signed up using your link falldown! Might as well give it a go.

Car boot sale could be a goer and I am making a list of stuff to eBay. What about music magpie? Is it worth while?

  • My aunt had some old jewelry and took it down to TMS, it was gold but she got over £300 for it.

Even try Cash Converters if there is one close to you they generally take anything of value, every little bit can help :)
