Luton Airport parking ticket

Hi, I'm new to this but need advice, I was sent a letter by Apcoa stating I have a parking charge notice from October 2012. I dropped my friend off at 6 in the morning, it was a quick stop, bags and friend out and I went on my way, there was nothing else around and I was not blocking anyone or causing any problems. I have had letters from Roxburgh now with increased charges, I have ignored them as posts on here seem to consistently suggest to do that. However this morning someone from Roxburghe actually rang the house phone at 8am!!!! They wanted my address and postcode confirmation. I told them they must have the wrong number. I'm very worried. I don't break the law, but I'm beginning to feel like a criminal :-( Please any advice would be appreciated.

You haven't broken any law.
If they call again repeat this:
"The debt is denied. In line with Office of Fair Trading Guidelines you must now refer the matter back to your client. Any further contact from you will be deemed as harassment and further action may be taken against you, your client, and the landowner in line with the Protection from Harassment Act 1997."
Then end the call. No discussion or conversation with them.Je Suis Cecil.0 -
The no-nonsense answer is above.
Or if you want to P*** them off, try a variation on this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s898wpcgcJM0 -
Thanks for the quick response, I hope they don't call back, can't believe they even got my phone number?? They are quite relentless.0

They probably will. But with the response suggested by ManxRed, they should then go away. Don't worry about it. It's all part of the standard chain of events. Thanks for the quick response, I hope they don't call back, can't believe they even got my phone number?? They are quite relentless.0 -
I would simply demand to know who they are and what they want BEFORE confirming anything. And even if they did do that, I would simply refuse to discuss the matter with them over the phone. If you are a BT customer, you can ask for their 'selective call barring service' where by you can block them from calling you again.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0

Search this parking sub-forum for the keywords 'Roxburghe phone calls' and you will find lots of other people who have had this hassle and knocked it on the head easily. It's just a matter of responding with the right reply, see the other threads as you'll feel better when you read about other people doing this first.
The DVLA do not give out phone numbers but obviously yours comes up with a basic Google or a limited credit search maybe - sometimes your bank puts your phone number on the record of any loans. And Roxburghe can look at some basic stuff, that's how they get the numbers of some people.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

The youtube response was hilarious, not sure I could do it with that much conviction though hahah. But thanks it did make me lol.:rotfl:0

The youtube response was the stupidest example - and the person in question then got taken to Small Claims over it as he'd wound them up (he won though). Hopefully you also found the normal results where people just said the usual spiel. It works.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
