Yeah CCCS and Payplan. Maybe I should try them again then? Does seem like a very long wait?0 -
Hi melf, hope you're feeling OK.
Between now and when you get the professional advice you're waiting for, you could read up about the BR process on the insolvency website, it might help to clarify some issues for you.
Also, there is the small matter of the bankruptcy fees. If there is anything to be gained from saving money at this stage you could do worse than putting it towards the BR fees...£375 + court fees of £150. But, if after seeing your debt advisor you then decide BR is not for you, the money is there for another purpose.
Gud luk Mel.0 -
No worries, I will try them again. Really thought I would speak to someone the same day - naive I think.
I hate whats going on with this post. I think the only way is to just ignore nasty comments because its the only way it stops.

melf it would be worth trying the cccs again as you said, I rang a while ago and only waited a day or so for someone to talk to me, far from naive I thought the same thing myself wished someone could take away all the worries and trouble with one quick phonecall...as for all this hassle dont let this bother you your in the right place people who care are here for you (as they were for me) its a shame you always get one person that spoils things though...the end!We all die. BR I'm sure doesn't teach people how to manage money, it just wipes the slate so they can begin again - not to say they're carelessly racking up debt again, they just don't know how to stop it from happening!
Whilst you have made some valid points, this one I think is so far off the mark. You have made a very general assumption. I for one know exactly how to stop myself getting into debt again.
How and why I got myself into such a pickle in the first place is probably not that much different from many others, but the way I've dealt with my situation, which is BR, does not mean I am less able or less knowledgable about how to stop it from happening again. BR was a hard lesson and a huge learning curve, one I intend never to forget or repeat.0 -

I agree you can't judge everybodys circumstances as the same...I worked in the NHS in a very high paid position but after 2 car accidents (neither my fault I might add) I was left with a few injuries that will affect the rest of my life & as a result lost my job/wage as I could no longer hold the job down, before this I could manage my finance quite well thank you without assistance, bankrupcy is not the easy way out as some people seem to keep quoting I suffered from severe depression along with everything else & ended up in hospital after two botched suicide attempts...but thanks to people here in the same boat & treatment i'm still receiving from hospital i'm starting to get my life back together againWe all die. Some folks share numbers... Dawn and I are both 64 and I'm sure there are other couples out there like that too and one or two Admin !!!! ups too...
Anyhoo Melf. CCCS, seriously. A very good starting place. Don't worry we're all here to support one another.0 -

Steady Neko,
These's all sorts of possible replies to thatMike promised my O.H the 69 because it's the same numbers as her car and she wouldn't forget it :rotfl:

Just a quick note on a point no one has really considered...
I sometimes click on topic headings directly from the main forums list page. Thus, on the surface, this topic 'appeared' to be on the DFW forum (I didn't even realise until I read all the 'bickering posts' that it was on the BR subforum- not the main DFW one), therefore when someone asks for advice on a SOA on the DFW board the kind of reply from black_saturn is the kind that is expected. Areas that you are able to cut costs. So have you considered that people offering generic cost-cutting ideas might just have not realised that the post was on the BR forum??
Infact, it wasn't very clear what kind of advice the OP was looking for about their SOA- was it to identify areas for savings? Was it to prepare their SOA for the bankruptcy proceedure? Infact, the OP has stated that they are in 'two-minds' about what to do re: bankruptcy, maybe seeing the savings they could make would give them the ability to make an informed choice about whether they can afford to pay off their debt or should go down the BR route?
I'm pretty sure that Black_Saturn meant no malice and didn't wish to offend, it's just standard advice on the DFW forum. The savings suggested may or may not suit their situation but at least they got some advice on POSSIBLE savings and now can see that perhaps it is not really viable for them.0 -
Hi Folks
I've just spent some time reading and removing a lot of posts on this thread, and whilst i can see both arguments, the comments and tone of the majority of posts on this thread were, frankly, unnecessary.
The OP's post, by their own admittance, was a little vague and whilst this board is for advice on tackling the issue of bankrupcy (rather than the more traditional SOA threads over in DFW on a point by point basis), we are all here to offer MoneySaving help and i do not believe that several posters who replied to the SOA on a point by point basis were trying to disrupt the thread.
If someone takes a thread on BR off track from the nature of the board, report it to abuse and leave it there. The common goal here is to save people money and help them with finance issues - we should all be on the same side and what happened on this thread could and should have been avoided.
We understand that a lot of you give a lot of time on certain boards and that is the beauty of why the MoneySavingExpert forums work; but please consider that we are a big demographic and not everyone understands every board perfectly. If people are trying to help others, that is to be commended. If their help is perhaps not suited to a certain board, let us know and we can help.
I'm going to reopen the thread and hope that we move on and get back to the community spirit of the site.
