I have just received a very weird email!

Options
It had only the word 'How' in the subject, and then 'Are you ok? Why the delays in the deal?' in the body of the message.

It came from an email address I don't know and never seen before, and wasn't signed etc.

Now, I've had my fair share of spam emails (though not really on my personal email address), but nothing like this before. It's kind of creepy?!

I have googled the email address it came from and it looks like it belongs to a professor of arabic studies in the US! Do you think it's just a case of that person's email address being hacked??

I reckon so - if anyone 'bites' and responds, they'll probably attempt to turn it into a 419 scam.

Is there anything I should do? Is my email address in any kind of risk?

Why would anybody be spooked by these? I get dozens a week.

General rule of thumb, if I don't recognise who has sent an email I delete it.

If it's important from someone I do know then I'm sure they'll get hold of me somehow.

No, just delete the email and forget about it.

all new spam emails open by suggesting you that you have already started a conversation then you are more likely to reply

When will the "Edit" and "Quote" button get fixed on the mobile web interface?

How is it working? I've deleted it and I haven't replied to it.

This is literally the first time I receive an email like this on my personal address and it doesn't end up in the spam folder, hence I was spooked.

Thanks to whoever helped without assuming things or criticising.

Things like that don't even get opened, and click the spam button so that you're provider will stop them in their tracks if they try again.

You think that's creepy? I get ones telling me there are 'Beautiful Russian Women' wanting to meet me, ones about penis extensions and ones about pills to maintain my erection. And I'm a straight woman who has given birth to three children. Sometimes I feel like their trying to give me some kind of life makeover lol

Don't feel targeted, I always assume its a random approach to scamming/marketing. :)
