iPad 2 & connectivity problems

Mum has an iPad 2 which connects to the internet via Safari.
Since Friday it hasn't connected to the internet or to the wireless printer. The BT Home Hub network isn't being recognised by either the iPad (or the printer).
She did have a problem sending emails too.
She's tried switching the iPad, printer, & BT Home Hub off / on again, but that doesn't make a difference.
Is the problem likely to be with the iPad, or the Home Hub? She thinks it's the HH; my instinct is that the problem is centred on the iPad as that is the central item in the trio - perhaps its wireless bits.
Does anyone have any suggestions on fixing it? I'm 200 miles away and am not familiar with iPads at all.
She doesn't have a USB connection to the iPad at present, so can't use an ethernet or other cable instead of wi-fi.

Have you tried 'forgetting the network' on the iPad and then reconnecting by entering the wireless password again?
Have you any other devices that connect to the wireless to see if it is that?
Also try hard resetting the ipad (pressing the lock button and the home button at the same time until the screen goes black)0 -
Does your mum have another device like a laptop or a pc in addition to the ipad that the Home Hubs operation can be tested separately from the ipad? Perhaps a friend with a laptop - see if they can connect to the wifi or not.
The Home Hub can be hard reset I think back to factory default, but this would only be sensible if your mum or a friend can set it back up again and reset the wifi connections etc.
On an ipad 2 it sometimes helps to "forget" the wifi connections and have it look for them again, once the HH has been reset.0 -
She says she's tried re-entering the password but it's not doing anything.
There aren't any other wireless laptops etc in the house - but it might be worth a try getting a neighbour to bring in a mobile phone or laptop to see whether it can 'see' the HH to log onto. The only other wireless item in the house is the printer, but I'm not convinced that connects to the HH anyway?
I've mentioned the hard reset, which I don't think she's tried yet.
I don't know if she would need help to set the wi-fi connections back up again!0 -
Another possibility if it is intermittent is that something could be transmitting on the same channel as the HH and interfering with it.
Google 'home hub wireless channel' (I can't post links!) to change it - this can sometimes speed up wireless internet too.
You can get free scanners that detect wireless signals and what channel they transmit on too.0 -
I don't think it's intermittent; it's simply that since Friday the iPad doesn't see or recognise the HH as a possible wireless network at all.
I can't remember if she said it was finding alternative networks, or none at all.0 -
Hmmmm don't think it will wireless channel then. Best thing to do as mentioned above it to test using another device - only real way to test if it's the HH or iPad - in all the time I've had my iPad it's never been the iPads fault why it's dropped the connection (always needed to reset the router, usually to default- pin in the hole! - this can throw up problems if you have changed the SSID or password and it doesn't have the default one printed on the back!)0

Well, she's up and running - thanks all :beer:0
