Anyone got one? Im looking for a new used car. I dont do a lot of miles(5k a year ?) and my longest journey would typically be a 300 mile round trip. I am happy to potter at 70 and under on Mways..reviews welcome..

Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

I've had the bigger engined one (1.8 I think), lovely car with loads of room in the boot and handy rear flip up seats....very nice to drive.
I've had an older model Civic 1.4 but found it a bit underpowered.
Hop this helps a little.

Thanks..yes on reading a few reviews, the general consensus on the 1.4 is that it is a bit wheezy. I also notice theres a good spread of low mileage late models for sale at reasonable prices so perhaps not popular in the used market. The 1.8 seems almost as frugal but has the reassurance of not being a strain.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). I had a 1.6 LSI Vetec auto a few years ago and loved it, never an issue with the engine and in 4 years of ownership only had to replace the radiator. Would defo buy another Honda again.0

I had a 1.33 Toyota Auris, similar size car, similar bhp and was absolutely fine... Would cruise at 70 at just under 3k revs, never struggled to pull away in 'Oh crap' situations. Test drive one, it may surprise you. Ofc it wont be a rocket but you don't buy a 1.4 and expect that0

I own a Honda Civic 1.4. Had it for nearly 3 years now. Love it. Plenty of leg room in the back and a decent sized boot. Can't say i've noticed the engine struggling in any situation. It's quite nippy down the motorway with 5 adults in the car :T Didn't struggle at all. My last 1.4 car did struggle badly up hills or with a full load etc but then it was a Daewoo Lanos :rotfl:
Edit - Mine is the model before the one you are looking at (55 reg). The ones you are looking at are bigger so a 1.4 may struggle in certain situations because of the weight of the car. Take one for a test drive and see what it's like.0 -

The weight is more but the bhp is ever so slightly more lol =/
Your model has 88bhp and weighs 1126 kg
The newer model has 98bhp and weighs 1244 kg0 -

The 1.4 Civic is a great car, assuming you don't want to tear away from the lights like a boy racer :-)
Perfectly good car. I drove the Type-R version of it a few years back which personally I didn't like - it was just too hard compared to the BMW I had, but admittedly it was half the price.
If my girlfriend didn't have a Peugeot 207, I'd get her a civic...0 -

They are quite a hard ride. Doesn't help having alloys on as well though :rotfl:0
