Cleaning pan - boiled dry cooking rice

Options
I wonder if you can help.

My pan of rice boiled dry rather spectacularly and I am struggling to get the black off the bottom of my expensive stainless steel pan.

Can anyone give me advice please?

Many thanks

Non bio washing powder, put it in the pan with water and boil it up.

  • I have just burnt my rice too! Thought I had bought boil in the bag.
I boiled some water in the pan over the stove and stirred with a wooden spoon and it all came away.I have found washing powder liquid never works with me you need the powder for est results.
  • Thank you.

Will try the liquid as I have it in the house and if it fails go and get some powder tomorrow.

How long should I boil do you think?

pardon me for butting in but I would have thought bio powder (or liquid) would be best?

bio powder.. it breaks down the enzymes which non-bio doesn't.. or full fat coke which will erode through your pan if left too long!!

  • Bio, not non bio. And use a steel wool scourer.

    I do it regularly. :)

Bio washing powder/liquid or soda crystals.

(If you struggle with cooking rice here is a simple way to get perfect rice. Use the 'easycook' rice. Put rice in pan and cover with boiling water from kettle. Bring back to boil and then turn the heat down as low as it will go. The water should not be 'boiling' you want to see a bit of movement of the water but no bubbles!)
