Changing bank accounts for benefits

Does anyone know if it's straightforward to open a new bank account and have benefits previously paid to old one moved over? These would be CTC.

Yes it should be. Open the new account up and obtain the sort code and new account number might be best to wait to get something in writing from the new bank first. Then ring HMRC TC helpline and advise them of new details, get them to confirm that they have them correct and have input the details in there and then. Meanwhile just in case keep old account open, until you get the first confirmed payment into the new one. Once all working, you should be able to close that account if that is what you need to do.0

Sorry, should add the original bank account is joint, the new one would be my name only, CTC claim is mine though, does it matter then to DWP?

Has your relationship (with the other holder of the joint account) ended? Have you told TCO about the relationship ending? Did you tell them about it starting?
DWP don't run TC's, HMRC does.0 -

I did that on Friday last and it was straightforward. I'm on Pension Credit and changed it over the phone to the DWP/Pensions Service giving them the new sort code, account number and account name. The operator entered it, read it back and said that written confirmation will be sent to me by post. Pretty easy really.0
