Royal Mail Compensation

I have had the misfortune to have posted an item using the recorded delivery service. This has gone missing and I have filled out the necessary forms and provided lots of evidence. This week I received a letter saying they were sorry to hear of my problem they have looked into it and yes they admit liability. Unfortunately they will not be offering compensation as my item is not covered under recorded delivery and so please accept a book of stamps to cover postage. Needless to say this is not good enough as I am out of pocket nearly 150 pounds. What can I do? Any ideas, as I am not letting this go?

If you sent an item worth £150 then you sent at your own risk i'm afraid. Recorded only covers goods up to the value of £46.
In addition it sounds like your item is excluded from compensation, some items are only covered when sent Special Delivery.
Did you check t&c's before sending your item?

    In what way?
RM have set complaint procedures which you are free to follow
however they also offer services for items of value
you chose not to use those services
  • So you posted something worth £150 using a service with £46 cover?
