Ive got a plan but not sure how to pull it off
I have some filling from making veg pasties, cubed carrot potato and turnip. It's mixed with a bit of melted butter, veg stock cube and thyme.
Planning on browning some sausages, adding to with the filling above and adding some oxo and water and making a sort of stew?
Problem is I don't know how long to cook it for, or what to serve it with
I only have pasta or rice which I don't think will work.
I could make some dumplings, although I've never made them before. Would this work? When do I add them, how long for, and will that one pot dish be good enough for a dinner?
Help! :rotfl:

It is best if someone else advises on a dumpling recipe because mine are often very much like cricket balls.:D0 -

to get the butter hard enough to grate put it in the freezer for 30 minutes. You could also use suet, vegetarian suet or stork. Basically you want an edible, hard fat.0 -
Dumplings would work.....or what about Cranks macro-rice? Have you got the old Cranks recipe book? I'm doing this from memory, but for two people, I cook 4oz brown rice, then while it's cooking, slice 1 onion really thinly, heat a teaspoon or two of oil in a frying pan & slowly cook the onion till soft, but not brown. Season with black pepper. Drain rice & add to onion with 1 tablspoon of soy sauce & if you've got some, a sprinkle of chopped parsley. My parsley plants are unhelpfully hibernating at the moment, so I've just been adding the soy sauce. This makes a tasty v cheap meal & goes with all sorts of things....I've served it with chicken, salmon & other fish, Quorn sausages, etc. Think it's called 'macro-rice' because it was orignally a recipe for people on a macrobiotic diet. It's nice cold too.2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever

What about a cobbler? It's similar to dumplings but different pastry (depending on ingredients you've got to hand).
I think it probably woud taste OK with rice if you're not sure.0 -
Madman, a cobbler is what I meant, not dumplings, thank you!
Just found a nice recipe for cheese and herb cobbler, will attempt that :TCan't think of anything smart to put here...0
