I'm more concerned as to what right the LL has to withdraw the Sky (assuming the contract makes no mention of it)
    As explained earlier
If it was clearly part of the contract the LL cannot withdraw it.

Is it mentioned in your tenancy agreement?

.. it could be argued that there is an implied term to the contract if Sky has been provided for some time, and/or since you moved in.

Is someone using the on demand films etc that cost and therefore each month the LL is finding increased costs. I'd check your housemates aren't using features which charge extra.

    Hi.

If we make the assumption that the LL does not have the right to withdraw it
    1. How are you going to make him restore it?
    2. What do you think the outcome of 1. Will be?
  • I wouldn't be attempting to make it more complicated than it already is. All housemates agree to continue to pay their contribution towards to cost of Sky, whatever the monthly cost has gone up to.

If you go down the road of some housemates being able to opt out you'll inevitably find yourselves in an argument at some point with those who want to pay less because they watch less or don't watch at all. People can get incredibly petty about really insignificant amounts of money. Sod that.

They're initial reason was that it's unfair on the tenants who don't want Sky to have to pay for it. After further questioning it appears the real reason is because Sky have increased their prices.

Is this the "full service" and is that what tenants want?

Can you/LL save money by opting for a smaller package that keeps everybody happy?

Possibly. We deal with the LL indirectly though so sorting these arrangements is difficult, and hence I think the LL just went for the easy option of cancelling the whole thing.

Best thing to do is discuss with the LL direct.

If Eng/Wales, write to agent requesting his address.

Or check the Land Registry (£3).
