Tesco 3 for £10 Warning

Hi, just thought I'd let folk know what happened to me in Tesco.
I bought some meat in their any 3 packs for £10 promotion. Each pack was priced at £4 so the offer represented a £2 saving. After checkout I checked the receipt and notice that only £1 had been deducted for the offer. Went to the customer service desk and the lady was very helpful and apologetic and gave me a refund of £2 (their policy is to give back double the difference if there's been a mistake).
So worked out OK in the end but wanted to warn folk to look out and check your receipt. Strange how only £1 was deducted, if one of the items had been accidentally missed from the offer there'd have been no deduction. Mmmm... makes me wonder what's going on?...

Whats going on is that for every person like yourself that notice being stitched for £1, 20 people dont notice
So they are quids inWhen will the "Edit" and "Quote" button get fixed on the mobile web interface?0 -
More glitches seem to work the other way, ie in the customer's benefit.
For example, some of the dishwasher tablets in this offer had 100% extra free in the box, so a good offer to start with, as they don't go off.
They were on the shelf at £5 each and 3 for £10. They scanned at £3.50 each but £5 was taken off at the end.

Not in a million years - you are simply guessing
At least my guess has a basis in simple maths
Your guess has no more basis than mine.
You obviously don't do Clubcard properly either.
I get more value out of Clubcard points every year than I actually spend at Tesco. So do a lot of other people.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -

Just because you are paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you!0 -

.
but I didn't overide your guess with just 'another' guess, and dress it up as a factJethroUk not being funny but I've just read a post of your making a smart remark about a high street sales assistant not being familiar with the distant sales regulations (that don't apply to the high street)!
And that means what exactly??
If you are suggesting that because "I" (1 of 60,000,000 shoppers) have once benefited from a retailer mistake - ergo - Tesco are at a disadvantage from alllllllllllllll 60 million consumers - then your logic is somewhat dizzy
Maybe I've not followed your logic - so if you want to put me right - please doWhen will the "Edit" and "Quote" button get fixed on the mobile web interface?0 -
I doubt MrT is deliberately ripping off customers in this manner (but I do always check my receipt). It is more likely down to incompetence by those at head office inputting the offer. Recently there have been many instances of this working in the customer's favour, half price offer implemented before taking off the old reduced offer thus getting items at half reduced price or half pricing before removing BOGOF. I used to work in retail and saw this all the time, usually put down to a "computer error".0

A lot of Tesco 'offers' are easily beatable if you just look around on the shelf. I've often picked up two smaller 500g whatevers because the 1kg was more expensive.
Tesco know that 95% of people either can't be bothered or are unable to do the maths to check their offers.Don't grow up. Its a trap!

Thanks for your replies. I must admit that I am more than a little suspicious. I would like to think that Tesco don't deliberately rip people off but I can't understand why only the £1 was deducted in the offer. The customer service lady couldn't understand it either.
It was only with careful studying of my receipt that I noticed it myself, as it was 'buried' amongst other items a other special offers. If I had got home before noticing I doubt I would've bothered going back for the sake of £1. Very sad to think a big company like Tesco might be up to something like this. Who knows? Just be vigilant and check those receipts!0
