British Steel shares - what can I do with them?

I have 500 shares in British Steel - I know Brit Steel merged to form Corus and are now, I guess, owned by Tata.
I have no idea what the bs shares are worth now - nothing, same as corus? Mores to the point - I don't know how to find out. I know nothing about this world so appreciate any tips in lay speak.
Many thanks in advance

Tata bought Corus and delisted the shares in April 2007.
As there's no longer a registrar for the shares.
Difficult to know where you should write to. I would suggest the Company Secretary.

I think you might just have a nice certificate to frame, although it would be nice if I am wrong.0

TATA Steel Europe might be able to point you in right direction.

I had some of these but if I remember correctly I received a letter at the time of the takeover advising me that I had no option other than to sell the shares as they had bought the requisite amount of shares to entitle them to take the lot!
That was a few years ago so maybe as another poster suggests you only have a nice certificate with no value?
FWIW this also happened with some other shares that I owned from the public sell offs, TBH I was a bit miffed that they could just take them off me when I did not wish to sell!0 -
Well, that does not make sense. Surely, as Nilrem did get some money from takeover. If Pablohoney47 does really have 500 shares in Corus then it worth a cheque of £2,275. Hopefully, Pablohoney47 will get it!
Found out that takeover deal was 455p.
EDIT: Hang on, it was 608p after the auction process! So it is worth £3,040 instead.
Or it is really a case of that if they don't have the register, they can forget about paying the rest?
Cheers,

If the shares were forcibly acquired following a stock market takeover, yet some shareholders couldn't be contacted, there will either be a pot of shares or a pot of money somewhere just waiting to be claimed. We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.

The earth does not belong to us.
