    I find a good excuse which I have used is to say you have A BT engineer coming around to fix your phone line and you need to be at home. Very plausable and not likely to be met with any questions from the employer.

    Not sure why this needs to be asked but anyway just use your holiday or take it unpaid if you can afford to, you can lie if you want and pull a sickie but it could come back on you.
