Interview while employed.

Hello everyone, this is a first time post so sorry if i don't quite follow all the rules.
I find myself in the fortunate position of having a job that i enjoy but i have been invited for an interview at a similar but better job with many more perks.
My question is how do i go about taking the time off for an interview, i may also have another interview with the same company for the same job at a different location so i will need even more time off.
I was going to lie and call in sick but i feel this is unethical however i don't really want to tell my employer/boss that I'm considering another job. The interview is on the 8th of feb so it may be too short notice to use a days holiday.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I was thinking of saying that i had some sort of appointment but what if they ask for a doctors note or something?
Newbie1980 i am currently working about 4 hours away from the interview location so would need all day off to travel and its also an assesment day type interview so the time cant really be changed.0 -

What's the policy on taking leave? Usually, it's the same notice as the time you want or twice that - so for one day it will be one or two days notice.If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -

You are entitled to leave - it's a basic employment right. So just take it. Follow the procedure and take it.If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -

He said 'usually' your company may have something different - check your employment handbook - i.e. my work needs 2 weeks notice.
