Legislation states vehicle can be fixed/repaired within few days "ish" and just the failed item needs testing (no retest/fee)

Cant remember the actual time spans - I just know there is a provision to fix it

That's to stop garages failing your car and demanding £473284723847218904127 to fix it OR £57836783219678143216 for retest if you take it somewhere else

Basically to stop testing centres holding you to ransom which they obviously would do without this legislation

If the vehicle is taken away from the station and returned by the end of the following day then no retest fee is payable provided the failure was down to a minor issue.

If it's returned within 10 working days then a partial fee can be charged, but this is down to the garage as to whether a fee is payable.
