Can I claim Child Tax Credit - Please help

Hi Guys,

I have a query regarding claiming Child Tax credit.

I have Indefinite Leave to remain in UK and my wife has joined me last year in July on 2 years spouse visa. We have been blessed with our first child. At the moment I am working full time 35hrs/wk but wife isn't.

I want to whether i can claim Child tax credit keeping in mind my wife is subject to immigration control i.e. 'No recourse to public funds'. As you know Child tax credit is a joint claim. Is this going to affect wife Indefinite leave to remain application in a year time.

I have asked a few solicitors / Immigration lawyers and received mixed responses. I would appreciate if you can please advise me on this.

Thank you
