Loft conversion, flitch beams costs???

Hi all,

I am about to build a loft conversion on my house.
Doing all the work myself as on a v.tight budget!

Structural engineer has shown a requirement for 2 flitch beams.
one for the ridge beam and one to support new joists.
Any ideas on costs?

The specs are:-
4000x175x8mm x2

thanks in advance

Just contact your local steel stockholders to get quotes for the steel plates, don't forget to get them to drill the holes for the bolts. As a very very rough guesstimate I'd say £150 to £200 max.

As for the timber just contact your local builders merchant or timber merchant with the sizes.

You could assemble them yourself with reasonable DIY skills.

    Good Luck
