On 11th August 2011 I bought a mini oven from a local Asian shop. It was guaranteed for twelve months. During the fist ten months it broke down several times. Each time it was repaired free of charge. Finally at month eleven it broken down again...this time the shop give me a new mini oven. This was at the very end of July 2012.
A few days ago the appliance broke down again, now the shop is saying the will not repair it as the guarantee was till August 2012. As far as I was aware, the guarantee would have been valid till August 2013. Am I wrong or is the shop wrong? The appliance cost £65. Thanks for any advice.

Sadly, you are wrong.
A guarantee runs from the date of purchase.
You only made one purchase... in August 2011.0 -
A warranty is in addition to your statutory rights. Meaning retialers/manufacturers can impose any reasonable T&C's they like.
Therefore they dont have to provide a new warranty if they replace an item under warranty or otherwise, you could theoretically continue to receive a new one every year indefinitely.
If you wish to chase it under your statutory rights, you would have to prove the fault is inherent and not the result of natural wear n tear/misuse.You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
A few years ago my brother bought a drill from Argos. Each time it broke down and they replaced it, he was given a new full twelve month guarantee.0

That may be Argos policy but certainly not law and not very many will do this.NotMyRealUsername wrote: »A few years ago my brother bought a drill from Argos. Each time it broke down and they replaced it, he was given a new full twelve month guarantee.0
