Ikea Ribba frame question

Hi,

I have 10 small prints that I need framed and the white Ribba frames from Ikea look perfect for the job although they appear to be quite deep meaning the picture would sit back in the frame quite a bit.

After searching the internet I have seen a few pictures where the depth of the picture in the frame doesn't seem deep.

Is is possible to change the distance the picture sits back into these frames.

Here is the original from the Ikea website

Here are a few pics of the exact same frame ie. 25cm Ribba but the picture sits out better...

You can see in this one (the one below the main frame to top left) has the picture closer to front of frame.

Thanks for any advice.

Change the depth by using polystyrene or similar behind the card frame.
  • My understanding of the frames is that the glass lays against an inner frame thereby stopping the glass falling out? If thats the case then I don't think I will be able to push it forward in the frame?
  • Taken from the description of this frame on Ikea's website:

"The image can sit against glass or be recessed"

So it would appear that yes, it's possible to change the depth of the picture. I guess you'd just remove the included mount if you wanted the picture immediately behind the glass.

the glass is about 3mm from the front of the frame, then there's a deep gap to the card.

But that just means the picture will touch the glass. What I need is for the glass to be brought forward. You can see in this picture the glass sits, probably a centimetre from the front of the frame but on this original picture it sits much further back, http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/00078051/#/00078032

Actually, scrap all that I have said. This picture shows the frame in more detail and as daveyjp says I can pad the mount forward. I didn't realise the glass was so far forward...http://www.instructables.com/files/deriv/FOP/T1IM/G6MPQ0R1/FOPT1IMG6MPQ0R1.LARGE.jpg

Many thanks for all your help!!
