Kitchen Rewire Quote

Just recieved a quote for having my kitchen rewired, 10 sockets + Cooker & extractor points + 6 downlighters, no plaster on the walls therefor no making good afterwards, consumer unit is the width of a single skin wall away.

Quoted £550 +Vat, for Part P.

However can get it done for £250 non Part P and then look at getting building control out to check the work.

Does anyone have comments on the Part P cost (W Midlands) and also how easy it is / costs of getting council to validate non Part P work?

Many Thanks

If the non part p person is good at what he does then this apploach should cause you no problems. However if he is a nightmare then you will never get your building cert and you will have to put things right.

My LABC are very reluctant to get out electricians to verify work as they are not allowed to pass the cost onto the householder. However, Plymouth City Council have their own electrician who's job it is to go and inspect and test.
